Caregiver Appreciation Day Planned

Friday, 24 August 2012
Are you a caregiver for an older family member or friend?  You may not consider what you do as caregiving. Do you help with your parents’ household chores and finances? Or mow your neighbor’s yard? Do you drive an elderly friend to her doctor appointments?  If so, then you are among approximately 300,000 caregivers in Iowa who provide 319 million hours of informal care each year. The care you provide allows your friend or loved one to stay independent and in their home for as long as they desire.                  In recognition of all caregivers do, Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging and Friendship Village are inviting cargivers to a day full of fun, information and relaxation. The Caregiver Appreciation Day will be held at Landmark Commons located at 1400 Maxhelen Boulevard in Waterloo.  The event will be held on Wednesday, November 14 from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.  Cost to attend is $5 per person.  If you are a caregiver, make plans to attend this valuable event, enjoy a much needed break, and interact with other caregivers.  Space is limited. To register call Vicki Hyke at 319-272-2467 by November 7.
