Meals & Nutrition
Meals & NutritionNutrition is a key component in maintaining independence. Proper nutrition helps a person to remain healthy, fight off disease, and stay active.

Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging offers meals at senior/community centers as well as home delivered meals. Both meal programs offer two meal choices on most days. Frozen and shelf stable meals are also available for use on weekends or where meals are not available on a daily basis. Nutrition counseling is available to those who may want individualized advice and guidance to improve their nutritional status.

Meals are available on a contribution basis to:

  • Individuals 60 years and older
  • Spouse of any age
  • Disabled persons who reside at home and accompany the older adults to meals
  • Disabled persons under 60 years who reside in housing facilities primarily occupied by older adults where congregate meals are served
  • Nutrition service volunteers Persons under the age of 60 must pay the actual cost of the meal which is $6 per meal.
